It is always an exciting time when I get a new tool for the shop. No matter how big, small, significant, or insignificant it is. After struggling with the miter gauge that came with my DeWalt table saw for many years I decided it was time to upgrade.
There are many options on the market, Kreg and Incra being the 2 biggest. For me the only option was Kreg. I have several Kreg products and couldn't be more pleased with their quality. In fact I couldn't be more pleased with their customer service. So I gave them a call, told them what I needed, and they promptly shipped it to me.
The entire unit was super easy to assemble. I followed the instructions and in a few minutes I had a new miter gauge. The fence on the unit is about 25" long and it provides plenty of support for your material.
After assembly it was time to calibrate the stop and make my test cuts. The calibration was super easy. Just a few measurements and it was spot on.
The stop was set at 10" from the blade.
The piece to be cut was 16 7/16" long.
After I made the test cuts the stop proved to be spot on within 1/100".
From opening the box all the way through the test cuts the experience was pleasant.
